Excellence in Project Teamwork: 2020 was a unique year on multiple fronts with the highest recordable rainfalls in several years to a global pandemic, a lot of pressure was put on JJID’s Project Team, the Army Corp of Engineers, and Harkins Builders. Complex underground stormwater management structures and large paved areas that were required to meet incredibly demanding specification.
Innovation in Construction Techniques: JJID’s construction team used both innovative equipment and techniques by identifying issues with the owners- JJID’s team identified several supply change issues and pivoted with the owners to address. JJID’s field leadership team took an innovative approach to the complex stormwater management structures. JJID modified the manufacturer’s sequencing and was able to complete the 174 unit structures in half the time.
Meeting the Challenges of a Difficult Job: This project was difficult at its specifications were much more demanding than a Standard DOT contract. This contract required specific stone lifts, types of aggregate, and mixing of stone on site. The army corp of engineers also required a custom drainage stone mix under paved surfaces required modifications in grading and laydown. JJID and its subcontractors stood ready to meet the task and successfully completed all major work scopes ahead of schedule.
This project was a complete success due to the partnering of all involved, JJID’s specialized Equipment and Techniques, and best in class workforce.
